Ukrainian Drone Strikes Kill Woman in Voronezh and Hit Caspian Seaport

A Ukrainian drone attack on Russia's southern Voronezh region killed a woman, local authorities said, as strikes elsewhere in the country damaged infrastructure and wounded dozens. Alexander Gusev, the regional governor, said the woman — identified only as having been born in 1983 — died when a drone crashed into a house in the town of Borisoglebsk. Two others were injured, he said. In a separate seaborne drone attack on the Black Sea city of Sochi, 28 people were hurt, according to emergency officials.

Further east, in the North Caucasus republic of Dagestan, the acting regional head, Fyodor Shchukin, said Ukrainian strikes sparked fires at a seaport and a theatre in the capital, Makhachkala. Both blazes were quickly extinguished, he said. Unverified reports indicated that the Makhachkala Commercial Sea Port, Russia's only deep-water port on the Caspian Sea, was hit. President Volodymyr Zelensky later confirmed that Ukrainian forces had struck a seaport in Dagestan, adding that several sites were also hit in the Moscow, Astrakhan, Bryansk and Voronezh regions.

In the south-western Belgorod region, authorities said strikes over the previous 24 hours had killed a man and wounded 13 others. Russia's defence ministry said it intercepted 448 Ukrainian drones across the country and annexed Crimea between Wednesday night and Thursday morning.
