Two Killed and Four Injured as Car Strikes Pedestrians in Doncaster
A 30-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after a vehicle struck a group of pedestrians in Doncaster on Sunday morning.
Two people have died and four others have been seriously injured after a car struck a group of pedestrians in Doncaster, South Yorkshire Police have said. Officers were called to White Rose Way at 11:00 BST on Sunday, where a black Mitsubishi L200 had hit the pedestrians before colliding with a black Audi and a silver BMW on the opposite carriageway. Two of the pedestrians died at the scene, while four others were taken to hospital with serious injuries. The crash occurred between Carriage Drive and Middle Bank Roundabout.
The driver of the Mitsubishi, a 30-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of two counts of causing death by dangerous driving, two counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving while unfit. He has since been released on bail. A police spokesperson said officers were still working to identify and inform the families of those killed. The road remains closed while investigations continue.
